Students from degree collage of Kathua staged a protest against communalization of the ongoing rape and murder case of the 8 year old nomadic girl. Scores of students took to the streets of the Kathua to show their anger against the communal forces trying to polarize and pit different sections of the society against each other.

The students took out a rally from the degree collage to the Shaheedi Chowk shouting slogans like ‘’Stop communalizing our state”, “justice for Aasifa’’ and more. There were many female students in a protest rally holding ply cards ‘’ stop vote bank politics on rape’’. The students were demanding safety for women and called for strict against those who are trying to communalize the issue.

On reaching Shaheedi Chowk the protesting students blocked the road for about two hours demanding justice for the victim. The students expressed disappointment against the government for their failure to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state.

As the protest was going on another group tried to intervene and forced the students into demanding a CBI probe into the case. But when the students refuse to do so a verbal clash ensued between the two groups with the former accusing the students of being anti-national. That led the students to protest  against the fringe group. The students said that “they did not demand a CBI inquiry, particularly because the case is in court now and the judiciary will decide whether or not a CBI inquiry is required’’.

The students alleged that some forces are trying to give a communal color to the incident for vote bank politics. They appealed to the people to show unity and communal harmony in these testing times and defeat the forces trying to disturb peace in the state.
