Kashmiri art to be included in syllabus: PDP

Srinagar: Ruling, Poeples Democratic Party Sunday said that government would empower skilled artisans of Old City Srinagar under a proper policy.

While addressing at a party convention held Sunday first time after 2014 Assembly polls in Khanyar constituency of Srinagar district, PDP general secretary Nizam-u- Din Bhat assured that Kashmiri art and craft would be included in the syllabus at school as well as college level.

He also assured that certain training programs would be started to empower and uplift the skilled artisans of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, PDP senior leader and MLC Muhamamd Khurshid Wani who was also spoke on the occasion asked party workers to play their roles between public and government to strengthen the party and restore the glory of the Srinagar city.

Bhat who was chief guest on the occasion said that PDP would focus at each part of the Srinagar and would work on all fronts to strengthen party in Srinagar.

“Our Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is serious to provide better sources of livelihood to the skilled artisans as well as unemployed youth as he has already promised during the 2014 polls,” he said.

 Bhat said that CM would take every possible step to empower artisans of the state. “Process of including different art related subjects in the syllabus at school, college as well university level is in the pipeline for the progress of artisans and their art,” he said.

He informed that in this regard a Vice chancellor Kashmir University has been directed to submit a ‘Concept Report’ to be prepared by University committee to include art related subjects in the syllabus on priority.

“This will not only protect the traditional art but will give source of earning for the artisans as well,” he said.

He said that not only protection and progress of traditional art but also day to day art was under due consideration of the government. “The skilled labour and artisans of PHE, PDD, health, agriculture, floriculture etc are also to be empowered and their art will be also promoted on priority,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alam said that despite paucity of funds CM took all pains to rehabilitate the flood victims of the state. (KNS)
