Srinagar: The Government today announced that it will constitute a Cabinet Sub-Committee to look into the issue of regularisation of Casual labourers and accordingly will frame a policy.

According to KNS correspondent, Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Suknandan Kumar, Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly during the Zero Hour after Congress lawmakers demanded discussion on regularization of daily wagers of PHE and other departments.

Kumar assured the House that the Government will constitute a cabinet sub-committee in the next cabinet meeting which will discuss and frame the policy for regularisation of causal labourers.

However, MLA Khanshab Hakeem Yasin urged the government to form a committee for all the causal labourers working in different government departments.

“It is a grave concern. Thousands of daily rated workers have completed even 10 to 15 years in these departments and have gone over aged but they have not been regularized.  Some of them have been engaged on contractual basis while others on need basis. They have been facing lot of financial hardships,” he said and demanded that all the daily rated/ consolidated workers services should be regularized. (KNS)
