Mujgund Encounter Underway, No Militant Killed So Far: Police

Srinagar: The gunfight that raged between forces and militants in Mujgund in the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday is underway, police said.

A top police officer told KNO that the contact has been established and the encounter in Mujgund area is underway.

“No militant has been killed in the gunfight so far,” he said. Reports said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in Mujgund area.

It also added that the two cops have also sustained injuries in the gunfight who have been evacuated to the B B cant hospital for specialized treatment.

Meanwhile, clashes also erupted between youth and forces near the gunfight site during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the agitating youth. The clashes as per the local sources were going on when the report was last filed.(KNO)
