Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress President Ghulam Ahmed Mir on Wednesday said that they will meet Congress High Command to decide whether party will participate in the upcoming local body and panchayat elections or not.

Congress president Mir while addressing a press conference after the party’s core group meeting, said that the Panchayat and Municipal polls were declared in the state without taking a stock of the situation on the ground.

Mir said situation in Kashmir is not conducive for holding forthcoming urban local body and panchayat elections.

Mir said that the Central government and administration should clear their stand in front of the people of J&K whether they wanted to conduct the local body and panchayat polls in the state or not.

“We met the Governor yesterday and tried to clarify the things. But after meeting him, we learned that the governor administration is confused about conducting the polls. Every hour, the decisions and policies are being changed here. There is no clarity, “he said. (CNS)
