Nadeem Nadu Anantnag Attack
Srinagar: Five paramilitary troopers and a militant were killed and four other government forces personnel including Station House Officer (SHO) were injured after militants attacked a joint party of CRPF and police at KP road in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
Reports reaching GNS said that some militants opened fire upon the joint naka party of police and CRPF 116 bn B Coy near Oxford School at KP road today at around 04:55 pm.
The fire was retaliated by the joint team triggering off a brief but fierce gunfight, they said.
In the incident, two CRPF men died on the spot while as five others and a Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Sadder Inspector Irshad Ahmad suffered injuries. Besides, a girl namely Snober (18) daughter of Mohd Ashraf Malik of Danter Anantnag also sustained a bullet wound in her leg.
The injured were immediately taken to district for treatment where three CRPF men including an ASI succumbed to injuries, they said.
The slain CRPF personnel were identified as ASI Neeru Sharma, Constable Sitender Kumar, Constable M K Kushwa, ASI Ramesh Kumar, and Constable Mahesh Kumar.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Anantnag Dr Abdul Majeed Mehrib told GNS that they have received seven injured persons including five CRPF men, a police officer Irshad Ahmad Khan (SHO) and a teenage girl. He said that the police officer suffered splinter injuries in his chest.
Medical Superintendent said that among the injured three CRPF men succumbed while Irshad (SHO) and two other CRPF men were referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment. However, sources said that the injured CRPF men and police officer were referred to army’s 92 base hospital Badami Bagh Srinagar.
Soon after the attack, the whole area has been cordoned off by the additional reinforcement of police, SOG, army and CRPF.
