Srinagar: Police and security forces in Awantipora on a credible input arrested two militants along with arms & ammunition, police claimed on Wednesday. “At a Naka (checkpoint) established at Panzgam in Awantipora, Police and security forces intercepted two persons and during their checking recovered arms and ammunition from their possession which includes UBGL, grenades & live rounds and other incriminating materials,” Police spokesman said in a statement issued to KNO. The duo was identified as Jan Mohammad Sheikh, son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir-ul-Islam, son of Shabir Ahmad Shah of Panzgam, police said. Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and preliminary investigation in the instant matter has revealed that the duo is affiliated with HM. Further investigation in the instant matter is going on, police added. (KNO)
