Srinagar:All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday paid rich tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his 10th anniversary and said the veteran pro-freedom leader dedicated his life for the “sacred cause of freedom”.

He (Sheikh Aziz) was often incarcerated and spent almost 20 years in different jails and interrogation centres, in and outside the state, Geelani said in a statement issued to GNS.

“His sincerity towards the movement was beyond any doubt and he lived a very simple life. He achieved his cherished goal of martyrdom while he was leading his nation’s Karwani-e-Azadi,” he said.

The Hurriyat (G) chairman said “the best way to pay tributes to our martyrs like Shaheed-e-Azeemat is to remain loyal and steadfast towards the movement”.  “His valuable contributions for the ongoing movement shall be written in golden ink,” he said.

Geelani also expressed condolence with the bereaved family of senior leader of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Dr G Mohammad Ganai on the demise of his brother Mohammad Asadullah Ganie.

Remembering the deceased, Hurriyat (G) chairman said that he was very sincere, straight forward and gentle in nature. He prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, APHC (G) organized a peaceful protest march at Hyderpora chowk against the “nefarious designs” of India to change the demography of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The protesters, according to statement, said the abrogation of article 35-A is “a deep ploy to legitimize the influx of non-state subjects to occupy our fertile land and green meadows, get employment in all the government departments and ultimately reside permanently in Jammu and Kashmir, which poses a great threat to change the Muslim majority character of Jammu and Kashmir”.
