SHRC Seeks Report From DC, SSP Pulwama About Civilian’s Killing

Srinagar:  The State Human Rights Commission on Wednesday directed Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and SSP Srinagar to file a detailed report regarding the killing of a civilian by government forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

Hearing a petition filed by chairman International Forum For Justice Human Rights JK, Muhammad Ahsaan Untoo, a bench of presided over by SHRC chairperson Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki issued a notice to deputy commissioner and SSP Pulawama, asking them to submit a detailed report into the killing of Fayaz Ahmad Wani of Chewa kalan  Pulwama and  injuries to Arif Ahmad Dar of  Chewa, who is admitted  in SKIMS.

Fayaz was killed while Arif suffered serious injuries when government forces allegedly fired upon them in their native village which was besieged along with over a dozen villages by a joint team of army, police, and CRPF on Monday.

In the plea, Untoo besides urging the Commission to direct the deputy commissioner and SSP to furnish a detailed report has also inquiry by SHRC’s investigation and compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased civilian as well as adequate compensation to the injured.

Meanwhile, the Commission also sought a report from deputy Commissioner and SSP Anantnag regarding another petition filed by Untoo regarding thrashing of one Bashir Ahmad Reshi of Utrusoo Anantnag by cops. (GNS)
