Pulwama IED Blast Aftermath: Two Women Among 11 Persons Injured As Army Goes ‘Berserk’ In Trichal, Lassipora

Srinagar: At least eleven persons including two women were injured after army men allegedly went berserk and beat up inmates following an IED blast last night at Trichal area of Lassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Seven soldiers were injured, three of them wounded critically in the blast triggered by militants when an armoured vehicle was crossing a bridge on Trichal-Lassipora road last night.

The residents alleged that soon after the blast soldiers barged into their houses and thrashed them “ruthlessly”.

The Army men not only caused damages in the area but also beat up several locals after raiding the locality last evening soon after the blast, locals said.

They said that, around 11 residents including two women received injuries in the army action.

They said that many of the injured were shifted to district hospital Pulwama for trearment.

Besides beating the inmates, the soldiers smashed window panes of the houses and damaged the kitchen appliances, they said.

“The Army men also damaged cars parked in the locality.

There was a hue and cry in the village till midnight as locals screamed for help amid “rampage” by the Army men.

The ransacking and “highhandedness” by the Army triggered protests in the locality, they said.

Meanwhile, army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said they were ascertaining the facts regarding the incident.

SP Pulwama Chandan Kohli also said that the details with regard to the incident is being ascertained. (GNS)
