DGP visits police martyrs memorial, inspects moving offices, chairs officers meeting

JAMMU: On opening of biannual durbar in winter capital today, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar, paid tributes to brave martyrs at Police Martyrs Memorial, Railhead along with senior police officers and inspected Police Headquarters (PHQ) and other moving police establishments, that resumed functioning here this morning, following annual durbar move.

At the memorial, Mr. Rajendra highlighted sacrifices made by the brave cops in the line of duty, and said that JKP has a rich tradition of sacrifices in safeguarding people  and maintaining law and order in the State.

Mr. Rajendra later visited PHQ where he was received by senior police officers and presented guard of honour by a contingent of Armed Police.

Accompanied by ADGP Headquarters, Mr. S.P. Vaid and other senior police officers, the DGP visited various sections of PHQ and took stock of functioning of the said sections.

DGP also visited other moving police offices including Armed, CID, Security, Railways, Crime Headquarters and Police Housing Corporation. While interacting with staff, Mr. Rajendra stressed upon them to render their duties with zeal, enthusiasm and discipline. During inspection of various establishments, he discussed different matters with heads of wings and gave on spot instructions for better working environment. He said sufficient, separate accommodation shall be provided to each wing of the organization for effective functioning.

Later, Mr. Rajendra convened a meeting of senior police officers at PHQ and reviewed working of different police establishments. He instructed officers to maintain close coordination at all levels to keep law and order maintained. Urging officers to work with greater zeal for achieving desired results in different areas of policing, Mr. Rajendra stressed that major thrust should be given to public service and all matters related to common people should be settled on priority.

Emphasising upon better traffic management in cities and towns of the State, Mr. Rajendra asked officers to put in place efficient arrangement and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
