Srinagar: Urging people to maintain peace and calm, Peoples Democratic Party Youth General Secretary and MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmed Mir Saturday led a peace march in Zainapora area of Shopian district.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohamamd Aijaz Khan, SP S Ram Ambarkar and other senior officers of the district.
Asking security forces to show maximum restraint, Mir expressed sadness over the death of a local teenage girl who was hit by an army vehicle few days back.
He assured the people that the government will ensure justice and for that every section of the society has to contribute and allow the system to function normally.
Earlier he held thorough deliberations with local Auqaf Committee, traders, youth and members of the civil society to maintain calm in the area.
After Mir’s intervention local shopkeepers and businessmen, who were on strike, opened their shops and restored the business in the area.
Party zone president Pir Nazir Ahmed and other senior workers of the party were also present on the occasion.
