Medicos condemn ban on Muharram procession

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) in collaboration with Hussaine Welfare Society Saturday conducted a free medical camp on Ashura at Alamgiri Bazar here.
Dr Riyaz Ahmad Daga, spokesperson for DAK claimed that hundreds of mourners who attended the camp for various ailments received free consultation by a team of specialist doctors and were provided free medicines.
“President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan who headed the team said majority of patients had infectious diseases because of poor hygiene and sanitation,” he said.
He said majority of children who attended the camp had flu and all of them were unvaccinated. Free medicines were provided to all patients and patients especially children were made aware of precautions to be taken to protect from flu.
Meanwhile, Dr Nisar ul Hassan condemned in strong words ban on Muharram procession and termed it as interference in the religious matters of the people.
He said it is agonizingly painful to use force on mourners as it has hurt the religious sentiments of people. (KNS)
