Army Soldier Injured In Sniper Attack By Pakistan In Machil

Srinagar: An army soldier was injured in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers in Machil sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday afternoon.

A police officer told GNS that Pakistan Rangers in “violation of ceasefire” opened some rounds of sniper fire upon the army posts of 17 Jakli in Machil along the LoC today at around 01:05 pm.

In the incident, a soldier was injured and shifted to military hospital Drugmulla for treatment, the officer said.

He identified the injured soldier as Lance Naik, Pradeep Kumar.

Meanwhile, Pakistani army also attacked the Indian army’s 2/8 GR posts with small arms at Gujerdoora area of Machil at around 11:00 am.

The firing continued for about fifteen minutes. However, there was no immediate report of any injury. (GNS)
