Lightning Kills Over 100 Sheep In Rajouri

Rajouri: Over 100 sheep were killed after lightning struck the upper reaches of Alal Mangota area of border district Rajouri in Jammu region on Thursday night.

Reports reaching GNS said the lightning struck Alal Mangota killing at least 107 sheep of four families – Mohammad Iqbal, Jalaludin, Haji Mehboob and Istiyaq Ahmad.

SDM Thanamandi, Dr Tanveer Ahmad Khan said the incident occurred Thursday night at around 2 am.

“On the directions of DC Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad, I along with a team of officers from sheep husbandry visited the spot and took stock of the situation,” Khan said adding that the team assessed the loss and the report was submitted to DC for relief. (GNS)
