Srinagar: Amid election preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir, the regional party National Conference (NC) is strengthening its root from all the corners in Jammu and Kashmir by opening doors for new entrants in the party fold while two prominent faces including IAS topper Shah Faesal and a Judge from South Kashmir are likely to join the party soon.

Sources privy to the development told KNO that the NC is eyeing 44 seats across Jammu and Kashmir to form the next dispensation in the State without going for any bonhomie with any other mainstream political party.

Recently, the NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has also pitched for single-party government in Jammu and Kashmir, saying “coalition culture has failed in the state”.

Reliable sources told KNO, Shah Faesal who resigned from the country’s elite service today would likely join National Conference on Monday or Tuesday in presence of Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah.

They added that a Judge from South Kashmir is also going to resign from the post in the upcoming days and will join the party soon, saying that the duo have decided to join the party by or before January 15 this year.

They added that Shah Faesal will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from north Kashmir parliamentary constituency while the new entrant from South Kashmir, a Judge will contest in assembly elections.

Earlier, several political party leaders have joined NC so far including the former minister Syed Basharat Bukhari. The party president Dr Farooq Abdullah in Jammu claimed that many more leaders are scheduled to join NC soon.

Sources said that ahead of the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, many leaders are approaching the party at present and several offers were rejected by the party leadership. Notably, the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have started gearing up to strengthen the party at grass-root levels ahead of the elections.
