J&K Crime Branch files chargesheet against ex-cop for worth cr real estate fraud

The Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu on Saturday has filed charge-sheet against ex-cop for real estate fraud worth rupees 1.80 crore with a reputed doctor’s wife in Jammu.

Accused against whom chargesheet was filed in the court of law on Saturday have been identified as Mohammad.Afzal Beg, son of Abdul Rashid Beg, resident of Gool, district Ramban, at present Bahu Fort Jammu and his wife.

Accused Mohd.Afzal Beg, who happened to be a Constable of J&K Armed Police, illegally indulged in property dealing while in Govt service and subsequently resigned from IRP 19th Battalion Kathua in the year 2022, said an official spokesman.


He added that in 2023, a written complaint was received from wife of one reputed Doctor of Jammu alleging therein that Mohd Afzal posed as sloe owner of someone else’s land and sold her two kanals of land in Sidhra Jammu for total consideration of Rs 2.25 Cr out of which Rs.1.80 Cr had been paid in advance and subsequently it came to fore that the land belonged to someone else .Afzal didn’t return the sum.


After preliminary verification into the allegations, FIR was registered, indepth investigation was conducted by the highly professional investigating officer (IO) and case of cheating, fraud and forgery was proved against Mohammad Afzal Beg and his wife.


Whereas Afzal was arrested from Srinagar by the team of CB Jammu after hectic efforts, his wife had been bailed out, it read.


Senior Superintendent of Police Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh said that charge-sheet has been filed in the court of law for judicial determination.
