Jammu Police nabs couple with 2-kg heroin worth crores

Police on Thursday arrested a couple with two-kg of heroin worth crores from general bus stand area here.

Police said that continuing its drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under Operation ‘Sanjeevani’, a drug peddler couple was taken into custody at Bus Stand Jammu under the jurisdiction of bus stand police station.

A Police team while on naka duty at bus stand area arrested a couple namely Showqat Ali and his wife Salima Biwi, resident of Jand village, Amritsar of Punjab and recovered the heroin from their possession.

A case has been registered and investigation is taken up, said police adding, “Jammu Police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.”

Jammu Police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make
people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace, said the police.

Police however, have requested people to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption on 100 with Police for the cause while the identity will be kept confidential.
