Jammu Tourism Department’s special bus service will take Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims across the scenic spots during their brief halt at the Yatri Niwas base camp here.
In collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC), the ‘Jammu Darshan’ buses will be available to the yatris at a fixed nominal fare.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday morning flagged off the first batch of 4603 pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas Base camp here for the Shri Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir.
Director Jammu Tourism, Vivekananda Rai told UNI that all nodal agencies are dedicatedly engaged in welcoming the pilgrims and are exclusively performing their duties.
As far as the Tourism Department is concerned, all required steps are taken besides guiding the visitors at the counters installed at the Yatri Niwas.
“We are also taking care to address all the queries from the pilgrims for their smooth and hassle-free journey,” Rai said.
He stated that in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC), ‘Jammu Darshan’ will also be part of the itinerary of the travellers so that they can have a glimpse of beautiful Jammu.
“We want pilgrims to be our messengers of peace, harmony and carry along beautiful memories of the destinations while returning to their native places across the country,” said the Director, adding that nominal fare has been fixed for the ‘Jammu Darshan’ travel.
Joint Director Jammu Tourism Sunaina Mehta said, “Jammu Tourism has made elaborate arrangements for this year’s 52-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra that started with a flag off ceremony.”
“The Jammu Tourism has installed as many as 22 LED walls at 19 locations from Lakhanpur (gateway to J&K) to Banihal,” said Mehta adding that the publicity material of Jammu Division shall also be distributed to devotees, all facilities for yatris are in place at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar while radio jingles and newspaper advertisement are also being published across prominent cities of India.”
While welcoming the devotees, the Joint Director said that ‘Jammu Darshan’ facility is also made available from Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar.
Deputy Director Publicity, Jammu Tourism, Savita Chouhan sharing the details on ‘Jammu Darshan’ said, “for the purpose of tourism promotion besides aiding pilgrims’ commute, the bus service is starting from Saturday from the Yatri Niwas”.
She said that for Suchetgarh Border Outpost, the bus service will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm.
For Bahu Fort, Aqua Complex, Bagh-e-Bahu, Sri Venkateshwar Swami Tirupati Temple, Bahu Gandola, Jambu Zoo, Surinsar-Mansar lakes, Manwal Temples, Purmandal-Utterbehni, Jhiri-Akhnoor and city destinations, the buses will operate from 10 am to 5 pm.
