Date:

Srinagar: Army Chief General Manoj Mukand Naravane has said that the Chinese military’s intervention on the Line of Control (LAC) or the Line of Actual Control and attempts to unilaterally change the status quo led to a confrontation between the two countries. General Naravane said that India’s confidence has been broken due to China’s attitude.
He said that the enmity between China and America has also created regional imbalances and instability. The army chief at the seminar also referred to China’s campaign to suppress weaker countries and increase regional dependency through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Project.
General Naravane said that regional and internal security of this area is connected in the program organized in the northeast areas of the country, due to increasing security concerns. The event was organized at the annual seminar of Assam Rifles and United Services Institution.
On this occasion, the army chief said that Nepal has traditionally been an ally of India but in recent times there has been increased Chinese investment. At the same time, Bhutan is taking careful steps in this direction and relations with India have strengthened with Bangladesh.
Speaking at a seminar on solving security challenges in the North-East and Way Forward, the Army Chief said – Growth and development are linked to the security environment. Nowhere is this linkage more profound than in the North-East region.
He said that this region is endowed with natural resources but there is a backwardness in terms of growth and development. (PTK)
