Yasin Malik Arrested In Connection With Panchayat Elections JKLF Remembers Sheikh Hamid And Others

Srinagar: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police today, said a spokesperson. Police this afternoon raided JKLF office and arrested JKLF chairman. According to police he has been arrested in connection with the ongoing Panchayat elections.

Prior to his arrest, JKLF chairman while talking to media person said that Kashmir has been turned into a police state in the name of so-called democracy and everyone who raises his or her voice of dissent against tyranny is being arrested, tortured and tormented.

While appealing people to boycott ongoing Panchayat election Drama, JKLF chairman said that elections under Indian hegemony are responsible for our prolonged occupation and miseries and thus we should always stay away from this process.

It is pertinent to mention that after arrest, JKLF chairman has been shifted to police station Maisuma.

Before his arrest, JKLF chairman participated in a congregational prayers meeting held in memory of Aali- Kadal martyrs at Martyrs Graveyard Eid-Gah Srinagar.

He also participated in a blood donation camp at Abi-Guzar. At Martyrs Graveyard Eidgah, while recalling the sacrifices of great vailants like Shaheed-I-Hurriyat Sheikh Abdul Hameed, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone Shaheed advocate Jamil Chowdhry and others, JKLF chairman said that theses martyrs laid down their lives for the freedom of Jammu Kashmir, wrote a new chapter of resilience, resistance and sacrifices and changed the course of our national history.

It is worth to mention that a condolence cum prayer meeting was held in memory of Shaheed I Hurriyat sheikh Abdul Hamid and other martyrs including Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad lone, Shaheed Advocate Jamil Chowdhry, Shaheed Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay, Shaheed Mustaq Ahmad khan and Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad who embraced martyrdom at Aali Kadal Srinagar on 19th November 1992.

The congregational meeting led by JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik various JKLF leaders and activists including Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi ,Master Sheikh Muhammad Afzal ,Mushtaq Ajmal, Enjineer Ghulam Rasool Dar Eadi, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Sideeq Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Professor Javed, Ashraf Bin Salam, district presidents Bashir Ahmad Rather(Boya), Javed Ahmad Butt, Syed Nisar Jeelani, Muhammad Ishaaq Ganie, Rafiq Ahmad War, Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan, and others. After the congregational meeting a blood donation camp was also organized at Hamid Blood bank Abi-Guzar Srinagar in which JKLF leaders, activists, students, kith and kin and well-wishers of martyrs donated their blood for the welfare of humanity. Sheikh Reyaz Ahmad, the younger brother of Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Hamid also donated his blood on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention that JKLF usually organizers two blood camps every year and the blood is donated for the needy.

Recalling the struggle and sacrifices of Shuhada-I-Aalikadal and Gulam Nabi Butt younger brother of Shaheed father of Kashmiri nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt who departed this world on 18th November 1994, JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said that these great sons of soil nurtured the struggle for freedom with their blood and sacrificed their today for our better tomorrow.

He said that history bears a witness to the fact that till date no freedom struggle has been defeated by any oppression and tyranny and those who are daydreaming of defeating this sacred movement are actually living in a fool’s paradise.

JKLF chairman said that martyr Sheikh Abdul Hamid and his companions’ embraced martyrdom and turned the waters of Jhelum red by their blood and wrote a new chapter of sacrifices and struggle.

He said that today when we are remembering these noble souls, we pledge to take forward their mission to its cherished goal.

While remembering his childhood friend Shaheed sheikh Abdul Hamid, JKLF chairman said that he was a great friend who stood in front row and endured every difficulty and hardship that came his way of resistance with a smile on his face and never complained of any sufferings .

Recalling the sacrifices and struggle of late Ghulam Nabi Butt, who was the younger brother of Shaheed father of nation Muhammad Maqbool Butt and who left for heavenly abode in 1994, JKLF chairman said that he remained steadfast till his last breath and stood firm for the freedom of this nation.
