Srinagar: Terming the boycott decision of opposition, National Conference as “unwise”, Jammu and Kashmir government spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar Tuesday asked opposition to reconsider their decision.

NC legislators who created ruckus in the lower as well as upper houses of the Legislative Assembly on third day of the ongoing autumn session later on decided to boycott the remaining session over suspension of their three members on Tuesday.

However, Akhtar termed their decision as unwise and not good for the common people and asked them to come back. “They should reconsider their decision and come to attend the session, ask question and grill us without creating any ruckus there,” he said.

Akhtar said that NC has run out of the agendas and issues and their sweet dream of government fall has devastated.

“They run out of the issues. They had started ruckus during the sessi on to see their sweet dream of government fall may get realized. But that has not happen. Now what will they do and how will they face their voters,” he said.

When asked that the suspension of their members to be revoked was the way to get them back in the house he said that decision lies with the speaker who has authority to call on that.

Meanwhile, hailing the speaker’s role during the ongoing session, Akhtar said that he was proud of that speaker for conducting house proceedings with immense dignity and grace.

“He has given full space to the opposition legislators and has lifted the dignity of the house from the abject level of unpleasantness pushed by the previous speaker,” he said.

While criticizing the role of the former speaker MLA Akbar Lone he said, “We are glad as present speaker is setting up his own standards of dignity and is not trying to emulate what Akbar Lone did.”(KNS)
