The conference is organized by the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) in collaboration with Directorate of School Education Kashmir.

Akhter said that the real society of the state can be found in government schools and if we have to make strides towards progress and development, this section has to be made a priority.

“We have around 1.20 lakh government teachers and if every teacher adopts a child, not literally but for taking care of his education, and personality development, we will be able to produce high caliber 1.20 lakh students every year,” said Akhter.

“And in ten years time we will get more than one million such children who will be able to compete with the best brains in the country. This will bring in revolution in every sector of state as we will have an envious human capital.”

He further added that the initiative won’t be needing crores of rupees from government but only unflinching commitment from teachers.

While counting the initiatives taken by the Education Department during the last one year, the Minister said that more needs to be done and asked NUEPA to help the state in their drive to reform education.

“Ours is a unique state in every sense that has gone through a bad phase. We need to look upon with empathy but not pity. Be it teachers training or realizing the dream of English fluency among all students, we will be happy to get help from you,” said Akhter.

The Minister said that government is creating model schools out of government schools and NUEPA can be a great help. He proposed exchange of teachers between various states under NUEPA guidance to make such schools successful.

The Minister said that the Department is currently working on curriculum up-gradation so that the students would be able to crack every competitive examination and be able to compete at global levels.

He said that the Department has issued Charter of Duties for everybody from teachers to Educational Officers that is aimed to guide concerned officials on this road of success.

He also announced that the reforms in Vocational Training is also underway to make education interesting, practical and inclusive for all.(Agencies)
