A complete shutdown is being observed in Anantnag town and adjoining villages to mourn the death of Ahmad, a resident of Pushwara village.

Clashes broke out in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday amid a strike against the death of a militant in an encounter yesterday.

Mushtaq Ahmad was killed in a gunfight with forces in Kokernag area of the district early on Tuesday.

A complete shutdown is being observed in Anantnag town and adjoining villages to mourn the death of Ahmad, a resident of Pushwara village.

Clashes broke out early today between angry youths and government forces.

Youths pelted stones on the forces who responded with tear smoke shelling.(Agencies)
