Amarnath Yatra: Authorities Suspend Train Services From Qazigund To Banihal For 40 Days

Date:

Srinagar: In a strange move to facilitate the smooth conduct of on-going Amarnath Yatra, authorities have decided to suspend the train services between Qazigund to Banihal and vice versa for a time period of more than one month.

An official said that train services from Qazigund to Banihal would remain suspended from 10 am to 3 pm. However, the service would run normally on other tracks.

The official added that the decision has been taken to facilitate smooth movement of Yatras.

On Monday, the annual Yatra began in Kashmir, and more than 8,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave amid tight security arrangements.

Governor Satya Pal Malik participated in the ‘Pratham Pooja’ (first prayer) inside the 3880-metre high cave shrine and prayed for peace in the state. (KNS)
