Aide Et Action Akhnoor Celebrate Women’s Day

Jammu: Aide et action Himayat Akhnoor on Wednesday organized a daylong seminar on women empowerment to celebrate the women’s day. The event organized by its Akhnoor centre witnessed the gathering of people from different walks of life who threw the light over the importance of women in continuing the cycle of universe. The Chief Guest on the occasion Sub District Magistrate, Akhnoor Miss Gajender while quoting the ancient Sanskrit literature  explained in detail how women has always been an important in balancing the activities of life. She urged the students especially girls to empower themselves financially and socially and take benefit of all the schemes launched by government for women empowerment. Another guest Deputy Superintendent Akhnoor, Gurvinder Singh delivered a power point presentation and educated females against sexual harassment. He insisted the female students to lodge the complaint at any police station in case of facing sexual harassment. He enlightened them about the laws aimed to protect and empower the women. Acting politician and Civil Defence Chief Akhnoor Miss Kuldeep apprised the female trainees about self defence trips against trouble mongers and eve teasers in critical situations. Sapna K Sangra, Assistant professor Sociology at Jammu University appreciated the people of Akhnoor for sending the children especially girls for vocational and soft skill training. She said the world has changed now and the woman is equally competing with men in all shades of life. She, however, inspired girls to win the battle agaisnt gender discrimination which is still prevalent in male chauvinist society. “For that you have to stand and work hard and show their worth. You have to change the notion of people and tell them women are equal to men in all facets of life,” she said.

akhnor1The trainees also participated in various social and cultural activates in which the different shades of women in different eras were present. The activities of trainees by the guests were widely appreciated.

Later all the staff members including guests and trainees took pledge with centre coordinator Syed Nigeena Qadri and promised to respect and support the women. All the trainees and guests assembled at the ground later and chanted the slogans for women empowerment before the culmination of event.
