300 Players Of SAARC Nations To Participate In South Asian Chess Championship In Srinagar

South Asian Amateur Chess Championship will be held in Kashmir in September later this year, in which around 300 players from eight SAARC nations are expected to participate.

2016_4$largeimg225_Apr_2016_154821360All J&K Chess Association will organize the championship at Sheri-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar from September 6, 2016, a statement issued here by the association said.

“This is a very big initiative by AJKCA for promotion of sports in J&K State. The event is recognized by World Chess Federation, Asian Chess Federation, All India Chess Federation and J&K State Sports Council,” said a spokesman.

He added that the circular of the event is available on websites www.fide.con orwww.aicf.in or www.alljkchess.com.

“Last date of entry is July 1, 2016 which can be deposited directly in the account as given in the circular and after it may be confirmed by mail in the addresses as given in the circular,” he said.

The spokesman said the event will provide an opportunity to J&K players to play in a recognized International event at their door steps and will go a long way in promotion of sports in the state.(Agencies)
