13 Dead, 17 Injured In Poonch Mishap, Guv Announces Ex-Gratis

Srinagar: 13 people died after the bus they were travelling fell into a gorge in Poonch district of Jammu division of the state of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. “17 others sustained injuries in the mishap while five among them have been airlifted to Jammu hospital, other were evacuated to medical facilty via road,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav told KNO.

The deadly accident took place at Plera area near Kalarpella in the district when a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK02W-0445 skidded off a road and plunged into a deep gorge.

 The bus was travelling from Loran to Poonch. Governor J&K Satya Pal Malik has expressed grief and anguish over the loss of precious lives in a tragic road accident.

In his message, Governor has prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

He has wished speedy recovery to those injured in this accident. DC Poonch said that the Governor has announced Rs 5 lakh each to next to dead persons while Rs 15000 each has been announced for the injured persons.(KNO)
