The police today said that the youth died in Nasrullah pore village due to cardiac arrest while people are refuting the claims and blame teargas shell fired by forces for his death.

“Today afternoon one person namely Junaid Ahmad Mir son of Fateh Mir resident of Nasrullah Pora Budgam was brought to JVC Bemina, Srinagar where the doctors declared him brought dead,” said a spokesman.

The spokesman said that no injury marks bore his body. “Prima facie, youth died of cardiac arrest.” said the spokesman.

Massive protests, however, erupted in the village after the news of his death reached there.

Locals told CNS news agency that Mir died after being hit by a tear-gas shell – a charge refuted by police and doctors.

“There were no injury marks on his body. The cause of death could have been ascertained if relatives would have allowed us to conduct autopsy, but shortly after the death of the youth, they took the body away,” Medical Superintendent JVC Dr Ishfaq Ahmed told the agency.
