Vigilance busts Gulmarg Gondola fake ticket racket

Srinagar: The State Vigilance Commission has busted a fake ticket racket of Gondola cable car project in the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, after it was found that the project's database system was compromised to obtain fake tickets worth around Rs 5 lakh online. GANDOLA

"On a secret enquiry conducted by the State Vigilance Commission, it was established that database system of Gulmarg Gondola Project provided by 'Afford Infocom Pvt Ltd' had been compromised to obtain fake tickets on Net, by bypassing the payment Gateway of the project," an SVC spokesman said.

During the enquiry, it was found that the Database Administrator of the firm, Arif Rasool Bhat of Khawaja Bagh Baramulla, in connivance with his associates manipulated the data to facilitate illegal benefit to himself and few travel agencies, he said.

The secret codes of the whole system were misused and manipulated in connivance with travel agents and so far detection of fake tickets worth Rs 4,89,000 have come to light, the spokesman said.

The fake tickets were manipulated to pass the verification check point at the Base Camp to avoid any suspicion, he said.

The second highest rope-way system in the world, Gulmarg Gondola project is managed by Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC).

A case has been registered in Police Station Sadder Srinagar in the incident, the spokesman said.(AGENCIES)
