Urdu will be included in tests: SSB

Srinagar: Facing severe criticism for dropping Urdu for Revenue department job tests, the Service Selection Board has postponed the proposed exams of Patwari which was scheduled on 25th of this month.

Talking to KNS, SSB Secretary Shabir A Raina said that the board authorities Thursday called an urgent meeting in which it was decided that the job test for Patwari posts was cancelled.

“The Board will compulsorily include Urdu language for the Patwari exams which will be held soon. However, the scheduled exam for the posts has been postponed,” Raina told KNS.

The SSB also posted a notification on its official website saying that the exams have been cancelled.

“Pursuant to the communication received from Revenue Department, Civil Secretariat vide No Rev/NG/206/2015-II dated 17-12- 2015; the written test for the post of Patwari, (Revenue Department) for district Cadre for Kulgam, Kupwara, Srinagar, Doda, Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, Udhampur, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam and Ganderbal, vide Advertisement Notice No 06 of 2015, Item No’s 398, 415, 465, 481, 506, 528, 550, 566, 585, 604, 622, 641, 654, 306, 327, 346, 364, and 381 respectively, scheduled to be conducted on 25th of December 2015, are hereby postponed and the next date of written test for the above said posts shall be notified separately,” the notification No. SSB/ /Sel/Secy/2015/ 16357-71, said.

Not only the job aspirants, but Urdu lovers also critisised the SSB’s the Board’s decision.

JK Urdu Mahaz, an amalgam of 12 Udru organisations, formed today have announced to protest against the government and SSB for ignoring Urdu, which is the official language of the state, a spokesman of the Mahaz said in a statement to KNS. (KNS)
