Dalit activist leader Jignesh Mevani and JNU student leader Umar Khalid have been booked for inciting violence and denied permission for the Mumbai event.

Authorities detained them at Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle and imposed section 144 to prevent people from gathering at the spot. However, the move by police authorities was met with angry protests accusing police of being bias.

Chhatre Bharti, the group organizing the event, vice president Sagar Bhalerao said the daylong called All India Students Summit was planned long ago. He further accused the authorities of acting at the behest of BJP and RSS to crush the voice of the students.
