Two Day Long Encounter Ended With Nine Killings

Five force personnel, three militants and a civilian were killed while nine more CRPF personnel sustained injuries in 48-hour long encounter in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, which ended on Monday.

A civilian, Abdul Gani Mir of Gundipora Pulwama who was gardener in JKEDI, captain Pawan Kumar of 10 PARA regiment belonging to Jind (Haryana), captain Tushar Mahajan of 9 PARA regiment belonging to Udhampur town of Jammu region, Lance Naik Om Prakash of 9 PARA regiment, head constable Bhola Prasad Singh, a driver constable R. K. Rana, both of the CRPF and three militant were killed in the three day long encounter said, a top Army personnel.

A top Army official told media that the three militants, who were holed up inside JKEDI building here at Sampora Pampore, were non locals.

The identification was not been ascertained till the last report was last filed.

Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra told media that all the three militants who were killed in gunfight were non locals. “The three militants killed in the Pampore encounter had with the deliberate attempt chosen the EDI building to cause damage to the security forces,” he said.

The encounter between forces and militants erupted on Saturday after the militants attacked on CRPF convoy at Sampora Pampore and hid in the JKEDI building here.

The attack on CRPF convoy led to the killing of two CRPF personnel while nine other sustained injuries.

Earlier, a CRPF Spokesman told media that all the injured CRPF personnel are stable.(Agencies)
