CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has sought intervention of Honb’le Governor N.N Vohra for thorough investigations into Sarore incident.
In a statement issued, Tarigami has said the huge ramifications embedded in Sarore killing, if left unattended; can give birth to a major crisis in near future.
The CPI (M) leader has shot a letter to Honb’le Governor in this regard, inviting his attention towards the plight of displaced families of Gujjar community at Sarore. He said that not only this community is a permanent resident of J&K but they have been living in deserted areas of Sarore for years.
“Sarore incident cannot be taken in isolation. On the pretext of cleaning forest lands, illegal construction and so on, what prompted the police to police to use bullets against the unarmed villagers, needs to be probed thoroughly without any delay,” Tarigami demanded.
The CPI (M) leader also invited the attention of the Honb’le Governor towards nefarious designs of some forces who are hell-bent to vitiate the peaceful coexistence and the communal harmony in Jammu. He said that there have been similar attempts in the past to disturb the atmosphere and Sarore incident seems the latest follow-up of that design.
Tarigami remarked that the efforts are on to portray Sarore as a mix of three separate stories viz chasing criminals, demolition of illegal hutments and the firing from the ‘point blank’.
“Portrayal of Sarore incident is fraught with dangerous ramification to flare up the situation across the State especially in bordering areas where reports of simmering anger continue to pour in. And there is a dire need that a message of justice should go to the people. The incident warrants a thorough investigation particularly into all angles relating to death of a civilian and eviction of Gujjars from their homes in Sarore,” he added.(Agencies)
