Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu today informed the House that State Government Employees serving in Ladakh region are not entitled to the special duty allowance as same has never been in place for the employees posted in the region.
He, however, said that the employees working in Leh and Kargil districts are entitled to, and are being paid, compensatory/border allowance.
Relying to a question of Nawang Rigzin Jora, the Finance Minister said that the matter had been examined in consultation with the Finance Department. He said that the special duty allowance has never been in place for the State government employees posted in the Ladakh region.(Agencies)
