“Hurriyat is surprised on the reports of some youth indulging in sports activities outside state. We don’t believe in poking our nose in others’ issues but presently the whole nation is unanimously and wilfully on protest for the last four months and our wicked and cunning oppressor is using such events to create confusion and chaos. We appeal youth to refrain from such activities,”

Srinagar: The Hurriyat (G) on Friday broke his silence over the burning of schools across valley by some unidentified youth and said they are not well wishers of Kashmir. The party however appealed the youth who recently went outside for sports coaching sponsored by government to shun sports and join the resistance movement.

So far 22 schools across valley were torched mysteriously after the killing of Burhan Muzaffer Wani-Hizbul Commander of South Kashmir.

In a statement issued to media Geelani said: “All Parties Hurriyat Conference is once again concerned and worried about the continuous and widespread incidents of burning of buildings especially schools. Those involved in such acts can never be the well-wishers of the society, not to talk of the movement and these acts are purposely used to malign the movement as authorities and the puppet regime has miserably failed after using every tool in their armory to curb this movement.”

The police have failed to nab any person involved in heinous acts of burning schools. The incidents have shocked the masses across valley and people have sought stern measures against the miscreants involved in burning of educational facilities.

Meanwhile, Geelani appealed the youth who have recently been sent outside state for sports training by state government to return and sustain the ongoing movement. He said sending these youth outside state at a time when the whole ‘nation’ is united against India is the tactic of government to divert the youth from sincere cause.

The party showed surprise over the reports of youth joining sports training academies when the massive protests against New Delhi are going in Kashmir. We appeal youth to refrain from such activities,” the Huriyat (G) said.

Just a day ago, Geelani was criticized after media reported that his granddaughter appeared in class 10 internal exams in high security zone in Srinagar. Geelani has refused to allow the schools to function in valley after the killing of Burhan Wani on July 8 and said that killings and education can’t go hand in hand.
