Search Operation Launched In Kandi Forests Amid Firing

Srinagar: Some gunshots were heard in a forest area of Kandi village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

Locals of the area told GNS that they heard some gunshots in the forest area of Sadu Ganga adjacent to Saderpora in Kandi village at around 5:05 pm.

An army officer confirmed the firing incident and said that the troops of 47 RR fired upon a group of suspected militants. “The militants, however, managed to escape in the dense woods of Kandi “.

He said that a search operation along with the additional reinforcements has been launched in the entire area to trace out the militant group. (GNS)
