Security forces have launched a search operation in the central Kashmir district of Badgam following a tip off about the presence of militants, sources said on Saturday.

They said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at Peth Makhhama Magam following a tip off about the presence of militants last night.

The entire areas have been sealed, they said adding the operation was stopped due to darkness to avoid any civilian casualties. However, additional security forces have been rushed and all exit points were sealed to foil any attempt by militants to escape. With the first light this morning, operation was again resumed, source said, adding that there was so far no contact with militants. (Agencies)
