Samba Incident Reveals Fascist Mindset: Shabir Shah
Strongly condemning the action on a Gujjar locality in Samba by police and “communal” forces, the Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Wednesday said such actions against the Muslim localities reveal the “fascist mindset”.
In a statement issued to press, Shah while expressing grief over the killing of a person, Muhammad Yaqoob, in “firing by police and communal forces” termed it “brutal and inhuman” saying, “The Muslims of Jammu province continue to be the target of communal elements”.
“It is sorrowful that police, in order to target a particular community, razed the whole locality to ashes. This is a sheer communal mindset. The communal and saffron brigade forces also exploited the situation and it seemed a well-thought out plan to expel the Muslim Gujjar clans from the region who have been there since last 40 years,” he said.
Shah said the state administration and police are responsible for the act as “they are promoting communal politics by shielding the elements associated with a particular political ideology”.
“To destroy the whole locality was an act of political vengeance against a particular community. There are hundreds of families in Jammu who achieved the permanent citizenship by fraudulent means. The conspiracy against changing the demography of Jammu and Kashmir continues,” he said.
Terming the government-ordered probe in the killing as “eye-wash”, Shah said this is done only to shield the killers.
Shah expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family saying the whole nation shares their grief and pain.(Agencies)
