In a major development in separatist camp, top leaders Monday met at Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani’s Hyderpora residence.

ggggggA statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (g) this evening said that Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik early this afternoon held a joint meeting at Hyderpora “in which a detailed discussion was held over the serious situations prevailing in the Jammu & Kashmir”

The statement said, “the leaders talked about the future course of action in this regard.”

“Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik today afternoon called on Geelani at 5:45 pm and held a closed door meeting for about one and a half hour,” the statement revealed.   The meeting which is being seen as a major development was held away from media glare.

“Calling for complete shutdown on May 26, 2016 (Thursday) and peaceful protest demonstration after Friday congregational prayers on 27 May against the proposed plans of creation of the separate clusters for the Pandits, establishing of Sainik Colony, harassment of the Jammu Muslims, BJP leader Choudhary Lal Singh’s warning to the Jammu Muslims of repeating 1947 carnage, induction of new anti-Kashmir industrial policy and the attempts of demographic changes in the Jammu & Kashmir, all the three leaders in a joint press statement said that the time has come when the people should rise to defend their existence, individuality, their Muslim Identity and the disputed status of the Kashmir and to start an effective struggle against the dangerous plans of RSS in Kashmir,” the statement quoted the minutes of the closed door meeting.

“India is doing all this just to strengthen its forced military occupation in Kashmir and it is need of the time to oppose and resist these dangerous policies,” the statement quoted leaders as having said.

“The main focus of the freedom movement of Kashmiri nation is the struggle against the forced military occupation of India over this soil but we can’t remain silent till the achievement of the goal. The policy makers of India fully know this fact that sooner or later they have to accept the plebiscite demand of the Jammu & Kashmir people and they (India) also understand that the end result of the referendum process will not be in their favour so under a planned manner they are trying to change the demography of the state and want to convert the Muslim majority into minorities in which the local pro-Indian parties particularly the ruling party PDP is extending its every possible support to them. The policy makers of India want to settle the non-state subjects in the state on different name. Creation of Sainik colonies and separate townships for the Pandits is a very part of this policy,” the statement further said.

“India is using the same experience in Jammu & Kashmir which Israel had tested in Palestine and the Indian government is in close contact with the policy makers of Israel in this regard. The people who reckon the involvement of the pro-freedom people into the campaign against the creation of the Sainik colonies and Pandit Townships as a diversion from the main struggle, are making mistake in understanding the basics of the issues and they should again think over that,” the statement said adding, “The pro-freedom leaders jointly appealed the people related to all walks of life particularly Transporters, Traders, Employees and Shopkeepers to extend their every possible help in making the proposed shutdown call a success.”

“It is our collective fight for our collective existence and every citizen should play his part in this regard,” they said.

“The leaders had also made a passionate appeal to the youths particularly the students to play their role in making the said program an exemplary, disciplined, dignified and peaceful message.”(Agencies)
