Revenue of Rs 3.69 cr realized by ARTO Office Anantnag

ANANTNAG: The Joint Commissioner Transport today made a surprise visit of ARTO Office Anantnag and took stock of the overall performance of the office. He also checked the attendance register and inspected all the branches and enquired about the implementation of Motor Vehicle Act.

The ARTO Anantnag gave the details of the achievements of the office with regard to the targets fixed for the year 2015-16. He informed that against fixed Revenue target of Rs. 8.75 crore, revenue of Rs 3.64 crore has been realized up to ending September 2015. 3877 vehicles were checked, and fine of Rs. 5 lakh has also been recovered during the period. He also said that a draft plan for clearing encroachments in the town with all stakeholders including Municipal Council Anantnag for Traffic regulation will be submitted to the higher authorities.

 The Joint Commissioner Transport directed ARTO Anantnag not to allow functioning of unauthorized Sumo/ Auto stands in the town to avoid traffic jams and asked for taking strict action against the illegal transporters. He also asked for speedy 100% implementation of MVD Act to overcome overload and to minimize accident graph.

 Earlier Joint Commissioner Transport visited check post Lowermunda, Truck terminal and Zig post and challaned 25 vehicles also. He also constituted a five member team to check 24/7 to help the common people and to curb illegal activities like overloading and check and register the Non-Metered auto, sumos in the District.
