Jammu: BJP MLC Surinder Ambardar today said that Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation is turning a blind eye towards the issues of displaced Kashmiri pandit- be it disbursement of timely relief or issuance of ration there seems to be no efficiency in handling these issues.

BJP legislator made these remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in jammu. On Being asked about the problems being faced by the displaced Kashmir pandits viz-a viz timely disbursement of ration and relief MLC said that Relief and rehabilitation ministry seems to be giving a deaf ear to the woes being faced by the community living in exile from last 27 years and there seems to be no urgency shown by the R&R department on resolving the long pending issues of the community thus leaving them high and dry.

MLC while elaborating on the same said that it is a irony that Displaced community has not got the ration from last three months which they are entitled to and what has made the things worse that during this festival season there is nothing festive for the community to celebrate at all due to the callous attitude of the Relief and Rehabilitation ministry. He further added that it is not possible for any person to celebrate festivals if they lack the basic amenities like ration to feed their families.

He said that this is not the first time that such abysmal treatment has been meted out to the displaced community. It was only in June this year that Community was without ration for three months and it was only after his (MLC’s) intervention and Deputy chief Minister Nirmal Singh’s assurance that the ration was disbursed to the community. However now it seems that the department has made it a habit of getting things on track only after the intervention of the higher ups which is unfortunate.

Ambardar also said that it is not only Relief and Ration but Ministry of Relief seems to be shrugging off the responsibility on other issues being faced by the exiled community. He said many of these habitations face acute shortage of drinking water including Butanagar and Muthi Camps. “If we look keenly into the same the three basic amenities that is Ration, water and cash assistance which is the responsibility of the ministry of R&R is not being provided which is the gross violation of human rights,” he said.

MLC also stated that such is the state of affairs of the R&R Ministry that PM package and Non PM package employees who had gone to Kashmir for employment and had to flee to Jammu due to lack of security after the unrest broke in valley in early July are without salaries from last three to four months.

He said he will discuss this matter with higher ups in his party and if need arises he will seek the intervention of Chief Minister.
