Hostel residents of a Central University of Jammu found Maggot (insects) in the food served by hotel mess just when students sat to eat the food.
The food served at the Central University Jammu hostel run by varsity authorities always become matter of discussion between students and authorities, while students have often complained on bad food and unhygienic conditions in the mess. The varsity authorities have angered students, with many falling ill after consuming it, from half burnt Dal to uncooked Praths.
“The Mushroom they served is tasteless and rotten, the Allu Parathas served to us are never stuffed. The Roti’s are half-cooked making them unfit for human consumption” said student from department of Management.
The off campus hostel is directly run by the University; however concerned over poor quality food served by the mess forced CUJ students to rise voice against authorities. “Many times we have raised concern with authorities but they always come with false promises which were never fulfilled till date.
The most unfortunate thing is that, whoever among students tried to give voice to voiceless and students to speak behalf of students was threatened with dire consequences.
“You would be the targeted one, be ready to face consequences, the authorities try to muzzle the genuine demands of students,” said students from Department of National Security Studies.
Another group of Undergraduate students with their moist eyes busted into emotions and said “Orphanages are more fit to live then our hostel with each passing day our condition becoming more miserable and authorities are running their businesses from poor and needy students,” they said.
The students also alleged that we have submitted more than 11 written complaints in 9 months but our voices were always neglected by authorities that lead us to go for hunger strike. During the times of hunger strikes instead of taking cure measures authorities threatened us with bold voice and nobody is listening to our screams to redress our sufferings.
The students threatened to protests in future in case their genuine demands are not met.
