Rajendra Visits Kishtwar Doda to Review Police Functioning at Lower level

JAMMU: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar has said that professional policing at grass root level in the State would be revamped to enhance proficiencies of cops and build confidence among the people. He said that mechanism should be revisited to build up police public relations for better results at different fronts of policing.

 Mr. Rajendra was on a day long tour to the districts of Doda and Kishtwar today. During the tour, he visited the remote areas of Dachan, Marwah Kishtwar and took on spot inspection of far flung police stations and police posts. He interacted with the field staff and gave on spot instructions to strengthen basic professional functioning in the field for better deliverance. He also interacted with the local populace and sought feedback about the police working in these areas. 

DGP addressed meetings of lower subordinates viz SHOs, SDPOs and other district police functionaries at twin district headquarters. Chairing the meetings to review crime status and law and order situation of twin districts, he stressed for enhancing basic professional policing. He said that besides fight against terrorism, our priority should be to ensure better public deliverance and rule of law in every corner of the State. Community policing is mandatory to gain public confidence which would help in our fight against crime and social evils, he added.

          Referring the criminal activities, DGP stressed the officers to brace up with a missionary spirit to fight against drug abuse and realise the dream of a crime free society. He asked for crime mapping with intent to establish pattern and factors of crime, which could lead to identity of criminals. He asked the participants to take a pledge and make public service their motto, providing justice to the aggrieved.

          During the visit, Mr. Rajendra addressed durbars of jawans and officers at Kishtwar and Doda Headquarters in which personnel from the twin districts participated. During the durbars he heard the cops and gave on spot directions to the senior officers, present in the durbars, to redress their genuine problems. He asked the jawans to strengthen the professional policing, crime control strategy, public rappo and maintenance of law and order in their jurisdictions. He said besides dealing the terrorism firmly, we have to work for eradicating the crime and social evils from the society.

          Mr. Rajendra later commissioned the new DPO Complex at district police lines Kishtwar.

          Among others, the DGP was accompanied by IGP (Jammu Zone), Mr. Danish Rana, DIG, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Mr. Nisar Ahmed and District Superintendents of Police, Mr. Zahid Manhas and Mr. Sandeep Wazir and other police officers.
