His reforms transformed the face of education in State: Var
Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has hailed the services of outgoing Secretary Education Farooq Shah in the education sector as the officer was instrumental in turning around the fortunes of this distressed sector with his hardwork and innovative strategy to tackle challenges.
The Association said that Mr Farooq Shah who has now been transferred to other department, will be remembered for a long time for his immense contribution towards development of education sector. “The amount of work that has happened during the last two years in his tenure has been instrumental in turning around the fortunes of education sector,” said G N Var president PSAJK. “The working days during last two years increased considerably, accountability was enforced and the education became child centric.”
The Association said that lots of schemes and programmes were launched that benefited students and teachers in a major way. “J&K was earlier left out of the important National Achievement Survey, but it was due to hard work of Shah that the state education was also included in it. This helped in setting benchmarks, keeping check on quality and ultimately it helped in raising the standard of education in the state,” said Var.
The Associations said that it was during the tenure of Shah that the gap between private sector and government was minimised. “It became an era of cooperation between private sector and government. Together we undertook massive exercise of training teachers from both government and private schools,” said Var. “Number of private schools were regulated and many of their issues were addressed with main focus on providing quality education to children.”
The Association said that Shah was first to take up and address many contentious issues and resolve them. “Before him nobody was serious in upgrading the school curriculum and it was due to his efforts that meetings were held to find ways to improve the school syllabus,” said Var adding that Shah put equal focus on extra-curricular activities. “During last two years more than nine national conferences on education were held in Kashmir. In addition to it five state level competitions and tournaments were also held. This shows his dedication towards making education child centric with focus on all round development of personalities.”
Terming the tenure of Mr Farooq Shah as a golden era, the Association said that it was due to his working style and utmost professionalism that students, teachers, schools and parents loved to work with him. The Association hoped that the work done by Mr Farooq Shah will be continued by the new dispensation so that the dream of providing quality education to all is realised.
