Govt is terrified from peaceful peoples movement: JeI

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) vehemently condemns the slapping of PSA on its leader Mohammad Shaban Dar of Mazbugh, Sopore and five others and termed it grave violation of human rights.
In a statement issued to KNS, JeI said, during an intervening night of 18th and 19th September police and SOG personnel raided the house of Mohammad Shaban Dar resident of Mazbugh, Sopore and arrested Dar on spot and later on detained him at police station Arampora, Sopore.
Dar along with other five respected citizens of the area has been slapped by most notorious law Public Safety Act and shifted all of them to Kathua Jail, which is highly condemnable and itself a grave violation of human rights.
JeI said, police also detained Abdul Qayoom Dar (associate of Jama’at) of Shopian before some days and today he has also been slapped with PSA and authorities has shifted him to Kathua jail, which is an ample evidence that the government is terrified by the ongoing peaceful peoples movement who are demanding their birth right ‘right to self-determination’. The violation of human rights by government forces in valley can be gauged by the behavior that before shifting the detainees to outside valley jails and did not allow detainees to meet their relatives. Moreover for collection of dossier made by police becomes hard for the relatives of detainees to collect.
Forces have started unabated arrest spree in valley to foil the people’s movement. During raids, forces beat inmates ruthlessly and damaged vehicles and houses extremely and damaging of crops and fruits has become a routine of forces from some weeks especially in South and Central Kashmir in order to horrify people and retreat them from participating in pro-freedom rallies, which is a blatant violation of human rights, JeI said.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) in strong words condemns the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on Mohammad Shaban Dar and other five respectable persons which proves government is terrified from the peoples peaceful movement.
Also Jama’at expresses its sympathy with their families and urges international forums to take strong cognizance of human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in Kashmir. (KNS)
