Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed that four Lashker-e-toiba militants killed Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari.

The IGP Kashmir SP Pani while addressing a press conference said that the conspiracy to kill Bukhari was hatched in Pakistan by a Kashmiri Sajjad Gul.

Pani identified the three LeT assailants as Naveed Jhat, Azad Ahmed Malik from Arwani Bijbehara, Muzaffer Ahmad Bhat from Sopat Qazigund.

Jhat had few months ago escaped from the police custody at SMHS hospital Srinagar.

The police had also released the pictures of all the three assailants allegedly involved into the killing of Bukhari.

Bukhari who was editing an influential Srinagar based daily Rising Kashmir was shot dead on June 14 outside his office in Press Enclave when he was leaving for his home.

The mastermind,  Gul according to police has crossed over to Pakistan five years ago.

Various reports have suggested that Bukhari was killed for his active involvement in track-11 diplomacy between India and Pakistan.

He was for several months, before his killing trolled on social media for holding a closed door conference in Dubai between the India and Pakistan diplomats on Kashmir.
