Kulgam: In yet another case of domestic violence, Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district arrested two women allegedly involved into the killing of their daughter in Law after setting her on fire.domestic voilance

According to Station House Officer, Yaripora, Mohammad Ashraf, two sisters were arrested after Hanifa Begum wife of Mohammad Shafi Dar died today in Hospital who was allegedly set afire by her sisters in Law at her residence.

“She was battling for her life for nearly one month in hospital. But today morning she died due to severe injuries on her body. Her parents had complained that she was burnt alive by her sisters in Law,” he told The Legitimate.

 He said on Court Directions, the accused women were sent to Central Jail after booked under relevant laws of domestic violence.

“The Further investigation is underway,” he added.

 The 42 year old victim has her elder daughter pursing graduation in the local College.

 Pertinently, in Kashmir since past few years the violence against women rose to an alarming level. In last few months several cases of domestic violence have been reported across Kashmir in which the women were tortured either for dowry or other issues.

 The Chief Minsiter, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had recently assured protection to the women and assured an end to domestic violence while expressing concern over the issue.
