Srinagar: In an attempt to curb the ongoing unrest, the police in Anantnag district of South Kashmir arrested top six Huriyat leaders of Baramulla during a raid on Monday night.
Police sources revealed that a team of Baramulla police arrested Bashir Ahmad Saleh, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Abdul Khaliq Regu, Abdul Rehman Tantray, Farooq Ahmad Saleh and Tanveer Ahmad Saleh from an undisclosed location in BIjbehara area of the district.
According to police all of them have been heading the separatist’s shutdown movement and organizing protests from the volatile Old town Baramulla during the past three months.
Prior to their arrest in South Kashmir massive crackdown was launched in Old town Baramulla where more than forty youths were arrested. So far, however, all the bids to arrest them failed.
