Pahalgam: PDP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir has said that the November 7 rally of Prime Minster Narendra Modi is an opportunity for him to revive peace initiatives on Kashmir.

Mir, while addressing a meeting of party functionaries in Pahalgam Assembly segment of south Kashmir said that it is a historic opportunity for the Prime Minister to revive the peace initiatives, both on internal and external fronts and mark a new beginning in Jammu and Kashmir.

“History has given an opportunity for reviving the peace initiative that the party had set into motion between 2002 and 2005,” he said.

Mir urged the party workers to become active stakeholders in governance to ensure accountability as the party was again trying to build people’s stakes in peace and economic prosperity by ensuring dignified political peace and sustainable economic prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that peace and political stability are imperative for J&K’s economic prosperity and the people have a critical role to play and a great responsibility to discharge to pull the state out of the morass and shape up a politically-stable and economically vibrant Jammu & Kashmir, during a party functionaries meeting here.
